The National Centre for Film Culture starts operating as a specialist department of “EC1 Łódź – City of Culture” in Łódź.

By virtue of appointment by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage, Rafał Syska, film historian, associate professor at the Institute of Audio-visual Arts of Jagiellonian University, takes on the position of director of the National Centre for Film Culture.

By order of the Mayor of Łódź, Hanna Zdanowska, the Programme Board of the National Centre for Film Culture is appointed. The staff of the Board include the following: Jacek Bromski, Jan A.P. Kaczmarek, Professor Mariusz Grzegorzek, PhD, Sławomir Kalwinek, Associate Professor Tomasz Majewski, PhD, Krystyna Piaseczna, Associate Professor Paweł Siedlik, PhD, Magdalena Sroka and Allan Starski.

“EC1 Łódź – City of Culture” in Łódź calls for tenders for “Designing a project of redevelopment of EC1 East, creating an artistic and spatial conception of the interiors, and execution of detailed, comprehensive project documentation and projects of permanent exhibitions in the National Centre for Film Culture in Łódź, with author supervision over the project’s implementation.”

The Minister of Culture and National Heritage, Piotr Gliński, and the Director of EC1 Łódź – City of Culture sign an agreement for financing the creation of the “Polonia Cinema” educational path, furnishing the educational spaces and adjusting the building to the needs of the disabled. A subsidy in the amount of 26 million PLN is financed by the European Union, within the framework of the Operational Programme Infrastructure and Environment 2014-2020.

The Management Board of the Łódź Voivodeship passes a resolution on choosing the project entitled “Broadening the cultural and educational offer of the National Centre for Film Culture” to be financed in the amount of 14 million PLN. Money from the European Regional Development Fund, within the framework of Integrated Territorial Investment of the Regional Operational Programme for Łódź Voivodeship for the years 2014-2020, will be allotted for the creation of “The Matter of Cinema” and “Mechanical Eye” didactic paths, as well as a research lab of the National Centre for Film Culture..

There is a meeting of the contest jury, comprised of: Marek Janiak, Rafał Syska, Michał Domińczak, Tomasz Majewski, Magdalena Sroka, Jarosław Suchan, Adam Kowalski, Rafał Mysiak, Wojciech Saloni, Piotr Kulesza, Michał Pabiś-Orzeszyna and Agnieszka Szal. Evaluation of the entries results in the jury selecting the winners: a consortium of companies presided over by nsMoonStudio and a consortium of companies presided over by the New Amsterdam design studio.

As a result of negotiations without announcement an agreement is signed with the executor of the project, the consortium of: nsMoonStudio, Group AV, Plasma Project and AWP Systems Marek Masalski.

Joint design work begins.
